Denial

Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die;
    save them as they stagger to their death.
12 Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.”
    For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.
He who guards your soul knows you knew.
    He will repay all people as their actions deserve.- Proverbs 24:11-12

History abounds Dear Reader with the excuse "we didn't know!" Yet time and again this vain rhetoric is exposed as lies to cover over the truth, "we didn't care."

The Carpenter, who was a refugee, fleeing from Herod, finding himself taken by his parents to Egypt, fleeing from political persecution, fleeing from the slaughter which took place in Bethlehem.

In Egypt they found welcome, they found a temporary home, prepared by the father for this family to hide out in.

The family of the Christ, shamed in their society for having a child out of wedlock, forced to take an arduous journey while Mary was due to give birth, spurned by relations in their town of origin, Bethlehem. Thus forced to rely on the kindness of strangers. Hunted by the King of the land, and fleeing. This, because Mary and Joseph said yes to the will of God!

Growing up , Jesus knew the place of the outcast, the disposed, the scorned. He hadn't just heard about it, his family lived it.

Yet Jesus told those who "saw the kingdom" to meet others where they were at, to show the kindness of Christ, but to offer the goodness of Christ as well.

Never were we told to turn away from an unjust situation. We are without excuse, and we need at first, to make sure, if we aren't at the moment the solution to the problem, that we at least are not the cause of the problem.

Then we need to turn from the evil to the good, to find what we need to do to change our lives to provide the bulwark for this who are in need.

We need to stop living in denial.

Prayer- Help us Jesus, we need courage, and direction, let us be known as people of Justice, people who care.
