Beginnings

It is well to note, Dear Reader, that the most powerful of men or women started as a mewling babe. Reliant upon the kindness of some guardian or another. That while they might assume their present position is due to sheer hard work and tenacity, upon reflection, they might find more was offered to them than they at present share with others. For in our beginning, we had not option of choice of mother and father, place of birth or choice of residence for growing up. Some suffer terribly because of this, many others benefit but fail to acknowledge their blessing. The fact we seem in this western world able to choose our own endings, should never deny that we did not choose our own beginnings. Dear Reader, you may wonder at this obvious statement and it's relevance to our lives. It means that we now exist because another willed it so. From teacher and educators, to relations and older siblings, to parents or guardians, and finally i would press to a creator of all. All took part in raising you to this point, without your direct choice in the original path. Thus while we may deny it, we are a corporate entity, created from the many aspects of our creator, progenitors and educators. We in truth had no choice of our beginning. This should humble us. However for many the opposite is true.
Having survived childhood, blessed or beaten, many move forward giving no care to the detail of their arriving at such present position, enough in their mind to consider the present and the possible future, but never the past. This is Dear Reader, a severe lacking in one's growth. For as the truism states, 'one who ignores history is cursed to repeat it's mistakes'. We might add 'and also fail to benefit from it's blessings'. In short, to ignore one's past is to curb one's future.
The problem lies not in the statement of this truth, but in it's provable application. For those who never reflect, never realise their lack! So Dear Reader, my challenge this day is simple, if you would have a fuller future, have you reflected on your beginnings.
